Thymly connects to Apple HealthKit on an opt-in basis only. Health and fitness data is read directly from your device and is never stored on Thymly servers, never sold, and never shared with any third party.
1. Information we collect
Information you provide directly
- Account information — your name and email address when you create a Thymly account
- Pantry and food data — ingredients, food items, and quantities you add to your pantry
- Recipe preferences — chef persona selections, dietary preferences, and meal ratings
- Meal plans and shopping lists — the meal plans and grocery lists you create in Thymly
- Food log entries — meals, calories, and nutrition data you log in the calorie tracker
- Project goals — health and dietary goals you set in Thymly Projects
Information collected automatically
- Device information — device type, operating system version, and app version for troubleshooting
- Usage data — which features you use and how often, to improve the app experience
- Crash reports — anonymous crash logs to help us fix bugs
Apple Health data (opt-in only)
- If you choose to connect Apple Health, Thymly may read activity data such as steps and calories burned to provide more accurate nutrition recommendations
- This data is read directly from your device via Apple HealthKit and is never transmitted to or stored on Thymly servers
- You can revoke Apple Health access at any time in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Health → Thymly
- Thymly never writes data back to Apple Health without your explicit permission
2. How we use your information
Thymly uses your information only to provide and improve the app. Specifically:
- To generate personalized AI recipes based on your pantry contents and preferences
- To power the Thymly calorie tracker and nutrition goal tracking features
- To create and maintain your meal plans and shopping lists
- To track progress toward your health and dietary goals in Thymly Projects
- To send you notifications you have opted into, such as meal reminders and low stock alerts
- To diagnose technical issues and improve app performance
Thymly does not use your data to serve advertisements. Thymly does not sell your data. Thymly does not share your data with data brokers or advertising networks.
3. How we store and protect your data
- Your Thymly account data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database provider, on servers located in the United States
- All data is encrypted in transit using TLS 1.2 or higher
- All data is encrypted at rest
- Row-level security ensures that each user can only access their own data — no Thymly user can ever access another user's pantry, recipes, or food logs
- Your Apple Health data is never stored on any server — it lives only on your device
4. Data sharing and third parties
Thymly does not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to any third party. We share data only in the following limited circumstances:
- Supabase — our database provider processes data on our behalf under strict data processing agreements. They do not use your data for their own purposes.
- Anthropic — when you use Thymly's AI recipe features, your pantry contents and preferences are sent to Anthropic's API to generate recipe suggestions. Anthropic processes this data per their privacy policy and does not store or use it to train models.
- Apple — standard App Store analytics and crash reporting per Apple's privacy policies
- Law enforcement — only if required by valid legal process such as a court order
5. Grocery app integrations
Thymly integrates with Instacart, Kroger, Walmart, and Amazon to allow you to send your shopping list to these services. When you use these integrations:
- Thymly sends only the items on your shopping list to the selected grocery service
- Each grocery service's own privacy policy governs how they handle this data
- Thymly does not receive or store any payment information from these services
6. Your rights and choices
- Access — you can view all data Thymly has stored about you in the app's Settings screen
- Correction — you can update your profile, preferences, and food data at any time within the app
- Deletion — you can delete your account and all associated data at any time at thymlychef.com/delete-account or through Settings → Delete Account in the app. All data is permanently deleted within 30 days.
- Apple Health — you can disconnect Apple Health at any time in iPhone Settings
- Notifications — you can disable all Thymly notifications in iPhone Settings → Notifications → Thymly
7. Children's privacy
Thymly is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at hello@thymlychef.com and we will delete it promptly.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or via email to your registered address. Continued use of Thymly after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
